Favre Practices With Vikings

The Vikings are welcoming Brett Favre to their first practice after sending his three close friends to Hattiesburg, MS to convince him to come back. Steve Hutchinson, Jared Allen and Ryan Longwell met with Favre to encourage his return to the Vikings after he has been flirting with the idea of quitting for the third season in a row. Favre, who is notorious for his indecision ever since returning from retirement less than five years ago. This year, the quarterback is worried about the state of his ankle, having injured it in the NFC Championship game last season.

The forty year old has put the Vikings through the same indecision he did with the Green Bay Packers, the team he spent the majority of his career with. Favre continues to cite general wear and tear of his body as the source of his indecision at the end of his seasons, despite playing some of the best games in his career. Last season, the QB threw 33 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions during a stellar season, despite nursing injuries.

The Vikings are eager to win Favre back, and it is presumed they will increase his salary from $13 million to 16.5 million, plus an additional $3.5 million in incentives.

Vikings backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson said of his teams’ pursuit of Favre, “I really don’t care. I feel like if my number’s called, I’m going to be ready and I’m going to continue to try to work hard and get better. That’s all I can do. My teammates, that’s their prerogative. I can’t really control that, so I’m just going to do my part.”

The other backup QB for the Vikings, Sage Rosenfels, says the same, “I know some teammates aren’t here, but I don’t know where they’re at. That’s not my business … My mind hasn’t been on that situation and I haven’t really talked to guys about it.”
