Hurrican Earl approaches East Coast

North Carolina residents are loading up their cars and boarding up the windows in anticipation of Hurricane Earl expecting to get the coast late Thursday.

Holidaymakers in the eastern coast state were seen packing up and leaving for the mandatory evacuation in place for nonresidents.  Beach Ocean Rescue Director Dave Barker said he was keeping a close eye on the hurricane’s path.  “Obviously we listen to what Emergency Service has to say and they are updating us on a hourly basis once the storm gets closer to shore.  Right now it is just watching the storm, listening to the warnings, and then taking action once we are told”.

Many residents were at their local hardware stores stocking up on hurricane essentials.  Said one resident “I’m in here trying to buy some flashlights and pick up some gasoline for the storm that may be coming.”  Local business owner Matt Probst was hopeful he would be able to keep his company’s operations running despite the storm.  He said “at the office at least were just hoping for all the computers to stay online and all the services to stay online and the phone lines to stay online so we can continue to work.”  Officials are warning Hurricane Earl could bring dangerously high seas causing substantial property damage and other collateral damage if it does come ashore.
